Why Whiplash Occurs
Whiplash is a common injury that can often be caused by a car crash, a sudden stopping in movement or a head knock alongside a concussion. The rapid movement of the head injures the neck. When this happens the neck muscles and joints become sore and the awareness of where your neck is in space (proprioception) is altered and damaged.
Common Causes of Whiplash
Car accidents, big falls, concussions etc.
Our approach to treating whiplash
At Brain and Body Health we have been treating whiplash successfully since 2006. Often in a whiplash injury it depends on which direction you sustained the injury. ie if it were a car accident, were you hit from the back or side? What are the signs and symptoms we find or you report? We use the grading system to determine the severity of the whiplash and then commence treatment.
Techniques we use:
Step 1
Assess the pain
Chiropractic examination to look at your spinal health combined with using Activforce Digital Strength Assessment to find the muscular imbalances that have led to the persistence of the pain and help us to figure out what we need to do to get rid of the pain.
Step 2
Get rid of the pain
Using a combination of techniques our goal is to get the pain under control so you can start strengthening your neck. Techniques include Chiropractic; Laser Therapy; Massage; Dry Needling; Prologel for Nerve Pain, Laser Tracing.
Step 3
Make sure the pain doesn’t come back
You need to strengthen the weak muscles around your neck to make sure the pain doesn’t return and get the neurological awareness of your joints back to normal.
