Why Cervicogenic Dizziness Occurs
Cervicogenic dizziness is a condition affecting the muscles and joints of the neck. The muscles and joints have receptors that give your brain information about where your neck is in space and your brain then assesses if your eyes and ears are telling it the same thing. If your brain is receiving mixed messages from your neck then you may experience dizziness that is brought on by neck movement.
Common causes of Cervicogenic Dizziness
- Car accidents
- Whiplash
- Big falls
- Concussions
- Poor posture
- Weak neck muscles

Our approach to treating Cervicogenic Dizziness
At Brain and Body Health we have been treating whiplash successfully since 2006. Often there may be a whiplash injury that causes cervicogenic dizziness. In these cases our goal is to find the group of joints that is sending the misinformation to the brain and causing the dizziness.
Step 1
Assess the Dizziness
Chiropractic examination to look at your spinal health combined with using Activforce Digital Strength Assessment to find the muscular imbalances that have led to the persistence of the dizziness and help us to figure out what we need to do to get rid of the symptoms. After a thorough assessment, often finding some neck muscles that may be weak and some dysfunctional joints we then commence treatment.
Step 2
Get rid of the Dizziness
Using a combination of techniques our goal is to get the dizziness under control so you can start strengthening your neck.
Step 3
Make sure the dizziness doesn’t come back
is to strengthen the weak muscles around your neck to make sure the dizziness doesn’t come back.
Once we have your dizziness under control we need to strengthen up the weak spots around your spine so that the muscle imbalance that set up the dizziness in the first place is fixed.
