Adrenal glands are the triangle shaped endocrine glands that sit above the kidneys. They are responsible for regulating the stress response. Stress causes the body to release cortisol from the adrenal gland. When exposed to chronic stress over long periods of time, our adrenals pump out more cortisol causing adrenal fatigue.

Dietary and lifestyle support for adrenal fatigue
- Eat a high protein breakfast to stabilise blood sugar levels
- Eliminate sugar and processed carbohydrates
- Eat regularly. Do not skip meals
- Eat a moderate amount of carbohydrates mainly from fruit and starchy vegetables.
- Combine carbohydrates with protein and fat to slow down absorption
- Reduce consumption of caffeine and alcohol
- Get at least 8 hours sleep
- Practice meditation or yoga
